Too Much Negative Offset?

I found a set of rims locally that might fit my '69 but I'm afraid that they my not have enough offset and rub on the inside of the fender.
They're 14x6.5 with roughly 3.5" backspace. Using online calculators that equates to -6mm offset. If they fit I'd most likely have to run the narrowest tires that would work with them to keep them from rubbing.

Any thoughts?

Are these the ones you're refering to Alvin?
bikermike's have a theaded standoff for knockoff center caps whereas the ones I'm looking at don't. Other than that they look very similar.

Great find! That's what came to mind but not it. I also thought about this red car, but again not like your set

Funny, that's the car who's rims I've been trying to find. These are close but not quite the same. As long as they fit they'll be close enough for me.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'll buy them to try. If they don't fit I'm sure I can resell them and get my money back out of them.

Is the wheel stamped 6.5 or did you measure the wheel to 6.5" ?
i would be very surprised that this wheel has a negative offset , Measured 6.5 which would make it 5.5" with a +6 offset would make more sense

Side note on that picture. My wife bought the car in 2014 from the owner in the photo. Took the car back to stock rims. We didn't love those rims which sat very close to the rear fenders. Sold the rims and tires to an "Ed" in New York Sate. They were his dream rim but he didn't have a roadster yet.

RBMann, cool story on the car. Thanks for sharing! I hope Ed from New York ended up finding a roadster.
BTW, nice roadster!

You should check them carefully If that is one of them pictured high strength alum alloy corrode s quick and deep , I had alum that slow leaked air thru the wheel back in the 70s

Three of my '70 era English made Cosmic rims leaked air through bad castings. Fixed with JB Weld! Found it by putting the aired up tire and rim in a water tank to find the bad spot... bubbles!

So I picked them up yesterday. The price wasn't bad so I took a chance. The good news is they're 14x5.5 and not 6.5. The bad news is the backspace is not 3.5 but 3. So that puts them at an offset of -6.4mm. With the 185 tires on them they are just hitting the rear fender. If I would get 175 tires and roll the fenders they might work. I like them but am not sure if they're worth the effort.
