U20 / Mikuni Intake Linkage Question

Hi all.

I'm just starting to restore a U20 Mikuni Type 3 complete setup, and in the hopes of re-zincing the appropriate fasteners, linkage bits, etc. I'm wondering if there is a way to 'disassemble' the "ROD-CONNECTING L61 FOR SOLEX" (the dogbone looking part) in order to re-zinc it?

Is it threaded?

Is it heat-welded?

Is it worth trying?

Any thoughts are appreciated,
Peter

It just pops off and do not let them bake it after they re-zinc it.

Alright, a quick update on the Mikuni Project.

I got my stuff back from the zinc plater and it was pretty much a grand slam. Everything looks really nice.

I sent a whole bunch of parts - all the parts from the Mikuni Project, yellow intake parts, clear intake parts, yellow carb parts, clear carb parts - plus a bunch of stuff I've been hanging onto - ashtrays, console sliders, console parts, gas cap parts, convertible stuff, parts that I don't even remember what they are, etc.

But as far as the dogbone linkage - it turned out perfectly! The process even whitened the plastic ends.

And then today I stripped and reblued the original water pipes. I'll probably do one or two more passes, but it already looks much nicer than it did.

I'll be sending all of the parts to Dave Premo to reassemble, refresh, and put his magic touch on.

Then I gotta put 'em on the auction block so I can put the funds toward my paint job.

Fingers crossed.
