During a clutch replacement on a 1970 1600, I noticed no flywheel lockplates.

When I mentioned it, I was informed that the later engines didn't use lockplates, same as the U20. Parts manual shows lockplates (Item #84) apply to all year R16's.

Anyone know for sure whether there are flywheel lockplates on all year R16's?

Thanks,

Can’t answer that question, but they are NLA. Someone found that the lock plates for a MGB from Moss Motors fits fine. I bought some & they do fit fine. HOWEVER I also used ARP bolts (torqued to 45 ft-lbs), which don’t work with lock plates, the bolts need the hex head to go all the way down, the ARPs don’t. Use blue locktite either way.

Peace, Pat

I just added 10 to my cart which I don't need.

I did find it is best to prebend the tab up a bit. Otherwise good luck with it.
