1969 replacement heater valve
I recall someone sometime ago mentioned a more cost efficient alternative valve that could be retrofitted to our cars. That time has come to me to replace this item if I can not rebuild it. I haven’t taken it apart yet but it’s leaking and looks all green and crusty. Any suggestions along these lines would be appreciated.

I’ve rebuilt a few. If you can get it apart, it’s fairly easy to get them fully functional again. Pat

Re: 1969 replacement heater valve
I think it was the 620 truck version that was similarly sized, and since the heater core to valve hose is the one that has to jump in sizes (like 9/16 ID on one end and 3/4 ID on the other (??) this non-visual swap is an option. Pretty sure it was 620 and not 720.
Mine is in similar condition.

Re: 1969 replacement heater valve
Got lucky I had a Oring lying around. Once the bracket gets separated from valve body the stem area pops off. About a 1inch sized Flat sided Oring resides inside. I replaced with a Standard rounded Oring with some thick grease. Checked for leaks and it’s good. Forgot to take pics of during!
