67.5 2000 5 speed transmission

Post by Herr Eickhorn »

Hello everyone. Its been a long time since I posted here, because my 1600 has been done for quite a while. It is in the Roadster registry - SPL311-24722.

In any case, I have come across a 2000 5 speed transmission at a local shop. It came out of a 260Z "restomod", which is why the Bell housing is incorrect.
In any case, the owner thinks it might be from a 67.5 2 liter car. Here is a pic. Can anyone tell what year this is from? I got interested in it because I thought I might convert my car to a 5 speed. But in retrospect, I think its best I leave it all original.

I do know the 5th syncro is toast. And for the conversion to run in a zcar, I saw where the main shaft might have been replaced. I guess I am just looking for any information, thoughts and opinions on this transmission. I could always buy it and keep it for a spare for my car in case something happened to the 4 speed in my car. I have more pics if needed.

Thanks for your help!!!

No it’s a late center case box and it looks like a longer than normal roadster tail housing, might be from an Australian 240Z 5 speed for a series 1 car. So attached is a photo of a 67/68 5 speed, note the distances of things on the two different tail housings and the transmission mount point is very different. Also the early 5 speed center case, the webbing is very different to the Z case, a lot less webbing on the early box. Z guys are going to be interested in that box.
