Original battery ground location

Post by spl310 »

I have seen battery ground cables going to a couple of different locations. I believe the original spot would have been the bolt on the frame rail to the right of the alternator below the battery. That being said I've seen a lot of cars that have the battery ground cable run to an alternator mounting point. Thoughts?

Hello from Japan.

Connections depend on whether you have early car or later car with left hand alternator.

Photo is a reproduction ground cable for early right alternator. Main to alternator mount, one to alternator, one to frame and one to VR mount.

Left hand does not have alternator ground wire.
