Came across this poster the other day - Brought back some memories. I remember it well seeing an ‘extended cab’ pickup for the first time … Room BEHIND the seats? Bucket seats? In a pickup?
It really was a bit of a revolution in ‘77

Yup … Very few jobs in vehicle safety research before the ‘70s … Guess that makes almost all of us here ‘Survivors’

I had a 81 or 82 Datsun King Cab with a diesel no less and it had two small jump seats that faced you sideways. It worked great when we only had one small child, but not so good with two.

My 2005 Nissan Frontier King Cab had front facing fold down jump seats that were not human-compatible. Unbolted them and put a couple toolboxes in.

I also remember domestic truck people back in the day sneering at the four-door Datsun and Toyota pickups... and now that's pretty much what all manufacturers make! You have to special order 2 door 2 seat trucks now.
