Extra spade terminals on ZX replacement ignition switch

Post by bajaroadster »

ign switch wiring.jpg
I ordered the ZX ingnition housing and switch to replace my original on my 67.5 1600.This photo from the Tech Wiki shows the differences of the electrical terminals on the back of the switch. (Thanks to Nick for the photos) I just want to confirm that the aux. terminals and resistor terminals are not used on the new switch when wiring the switch in.

If you want to use it as a 3 pin on a 67.5 you will have to jumper the ign and resistor terminals together. Otherwise you get a car that starts but won't run or a car that doesn't start. That is based on it being the same setup as the 68-70 roadster ignition switches.

Easy to check. Hook 12 volts to battery terminal. hook up a light to each terminal or use a meter and check for power out on each terminal on start and run position.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.
