SRL 05572?

Post by Mainer311 »

Hi all,

It's been a very long time since I've logged into the forums. I still have my 68 SPL that Dave Brisco had many moons ago, and I just acquired a "parts car" from Biddeford Maine with an obscure history. (SRL311-05572) I checked the registry and there is nothing in there with that serial number, so I was wondering if anyone on here had any recollection of it. Original color appears to be 665 yellow, with a red respray. The U20 and 5 speed are intact, but rough. The SU's are frozen solid.

The "owner" rented his house to an older couple, while he moved to Hawaii to sail boats. He lost contact with his tenants, and then later found out that they passed away, in which case he moved back to his house in Maine. Upon returning, there was this roadster in the back yard, which no one ever came to get. It has a California plate still on the front bumper.

The car is missing doors, the trunk lid, the dash, and the windshield. It's a basket case. It has one good fender, and the rear quarters are in decent shape. I'll be pulling the entire drivetrain and saving whatever I can from it.
