These small joints seem rare as... well you know. This was the last loose piece in my suspension rehab. Could not find one locally. Most vendors said "not selling my spares!". One said a honda piece will fit but did'nt know which one? Honda said "What"? Found a vendor who had the just the joint, for $78. I said send one to me! If it arrives I'll remember who it was and post it. It's a short term thing!! In the interum, I reassembled the joint with a bunch of grease and oversized rubber o-rings which removed the slop. I don't know hwo long the o-rings will last but are working good now!
Update..... It was Rallye @360-893-4200 and the total came to 95 bucks!

I did the same thing 90% better. It just rubs me the wrong way to pay $95.00 for a $12.00 u-joint. I found a manufacturer in Asia that makes a viable replacment, but has no distributor here.

I guess that I took mine to the right person when my newly acquired vendor rebuilt u-joint turned out to less than satisfactory. (binding/poor workmanship)
My local engine shop machinist, which also does driveshaft re-builds and balancing, took a look at it, and laughed.
He measured up the joint, looked in his catalogue, and asked me to return tommorro.
The next day I picked up the u-joint and for $35 I had new steering u-joint. The joint looked and worked like just like it was a new OEM one.
Had to eat the original $75 cost of the vendor re-build, but I got a u-joint that worked.
I will have to re-approach him and find out what components he used so I can post them for future reference.

Please do that If anyone wants that manufacturers link, I could dig it up. My problem is I need the small late 69 joint, is yours the large early?

There used to be a place called Dixie Bearing here in the south. They were a HUGE bearing supplier. You could bring virtually any bearing or seal, and they would get you a replacement using the dimensions. They have since sold and changed names, and I don't know the name of the outfit now...

We should be able to cross ref something if we had part numbers.

Ok I have a bit of info, but unfortunately not all the for the late smaller type.
My local engine & driveshaft rebuilder looked up the bill records for my early type steering u-joint and got the part# for the replacement joint they used.
For early type use: Neapco part# 1-0170X
manufactured by http://www.neapco.com/index.php
I brought in the later small type and a replacement listing could not be found in the catalogues they had.
They measured the joint and advised me that the inside snap style dimensions we are looking for in catalogue would be:
Inside snap rings= 1.070" (space between yokes)
Cap size= .633"
A possible replacement size might be found in a power takeoff u-joint catalogue,so more research is required.
If I find something I will post it for everyone to review.
Steve:
Please place the above noted part# into the interchange listings for future reference.
