Wipers stop in vertical position

When I turned on the wipers today, they stopped in the vertical position. I've tried turning them on/off and turning off the ignition. The wipers really want to stop vertically.
...from light googling, it looks like I should take apart the wiper mechanism and adjust a tab, but it's stopping at the wrong end of the cycle.
Is there a simple explanation/fix for this?
Thanks!

What year car†I’m thinking a high windshield car according to your bio.
My bet is not that the stop contact slipped that far, but that the contact is not making contact correctly. But fist, I couldn’t intuit whethetr turning the wipers on & off caused the wipers to park themselves correctly. Assuming tat the wipers are now dead, my $$ would be more likely:
Blown fuse/dirty fuse holder (“W†fuse) there should be 12v on both ends of the fuse with the key on.
Bad connection @ the fuse holder, wiper switch or wiper motor. the switch is connected to the ground side of the motor, so there should be 12v on the blue/red wire at all times.
Before you pull the wiper motor out, check to see if there is power getting to the motor.
Peace,
Pat

What's it do if you put soappy water on the glass ? They used to work correctly and haven't been changed ? Fold them up see if they work and park , may need to reposition the arms on the pivots

My guess is that they wiper pivots are seized.
If you have never serviced them, now is the time.

You guys are quick to respond!
Mine is a 1970.
I like the sound of this fuse idea - I was poking at the fuse box earlier and might have knocked something loose. I'll take a look and report back.
