Does anyone know where I can get the exhaust clamp that goes right after the exhaust manifold? And would it take a gasket?
The engine is a R16

Welcome. Not sure where you could find an original one in decent shape (they often rust/seize up and have to get cut off), but you might want to do a web search for “Exhaust quick disconnect V-band clamp and flanges for exhaust”.

Have seen them come up on eBay and Amazon occasionally. Just measure your old one and make sure you order the correct diameter (don’t assume it’s still original - might be, but you never know). The flange clamp doesn’t need a gasket.

Do a search on Amazon for V-Band Clamp. Lot's of choices for the clamp that Kai has shown above.

That is a terrible design, my 67 2000 is supposed to use one of those. They are so hard to get sealed up I went with a 68-70 exhaust manifold. Way better design!

I've got one for a 1600, I am looking for one for a 67 2000.

Yeah, I fought the seal at that flange on my '66 survivor. Finally got it to seal, as far as I know, no gasket is used. Best to find late model manifold and head pipe connector. Pat

You can make a "gasket" to seal the pipe to the manifold , I had the same issue. I found a metal ring and I believe the cross section was round ( think metal o ring). This was a long time ago, but my notes say "gasket between manifold and exhaust pipe, flatten, then cone to match exhaust pipe flange". If I remember, it would sort of look like a big flare fitting for a brake line, it would fit inside the front pipe and crush slightly to the manifold. It has worked out pretty well for me. I know, part numbers! walker 31353/31396, victor f7283/f12329, midas en1837, maremont g184, mccord 82-0146, fel-pro 60569/60816/30. I just can't remember where I bought it. Also have another part number for a similar part (bigger diameter). These are walker 31397, midas en1845, maremont g141, fel-pro 60833/35,60568. Did'nt try this one, the other one fit ok.
