I got it out, but had to use a pair of needle nose vice grips to hold the Allen key.

This Allen key was 2mm … I’m pretty sure in impact driver would have stripped the screw or the key.

I’ll be replacing the screws with something a bit more appropriate. If anyone knows what was factory supplied, that would be great.

on the bright side, I think I found the culprit for my electrical fault. The harness that runs to the cigarette lighter and center console light appears to be crushed pretty good … or bad.

Those screws should not be metric, most of the body fasteners are american thread.

Stick, I’m pretty sure that the screws are 10/32 and you can get them at just about any hardware store in a stainless oval head screw. The other size screw used on the tunnel is 8/32 for the shift plate. It would not hurt to pick up an 8/32 and 10/32 taps, to clean up the threads.

Thank you, Sir. appreciate the quick response ... I'm headed to the hardware store tomorrow anyway and I'll pick up some of the screws... I may have the taps on hand, but will have to check.

I'd swear the screws for the shift plate are wood screws right now! :smt005

By the time I got to my car, it was impossible for me to know what was "stock" and what was hardware store/bottom of the tool box sourced hardware!

Hey team,

What is the purpose of the four screws along the frame cross member just behind the grill? These face skyward and are in two groups of two. See pic.

I think they are for mounting an oil cooler.

Working on the interior of the car and getting ready to lay down some new sound mat. There are some holes in the flor as well as in the package shelf that I'm not sure what they are for and I don't want to just recover them unknowingly. Some are threaded, some were covered by the initial factory sound deadening.

The front footwell:
IMG_1049.jpeg
1" hole that was plugged (blue)
Two 1/2" holes that were not plugged but covered by factory sound deadening mastic (red)
Two snaps that were mounted to metal (under carpet). were these for original carpet kit or mats? Should they have been installed over the carpet?

Rear floor:
IMG_1047.jpeg
Two sets of 7/16 x 20 holes
four sets of 1/4 x 28 (12 total threaded holes)
there's another snap mounted to the floor on either side of the rear tunnel that are not marked, but still not sure what they were for. Assume there were some snaps on the vertical wall and sides for the tonneau cover.

Package shelf:
IMG_1046.jpeg
three or four different sets of holes? I think some of the 1/4 x 20 in the middle were for package straps??

Any help with identifying these would one helpful. There are a number of other holes not marked in the rear which were from a aftermarket roll bar that was mounted. I did my best to determine thread sizes .. if I got something wrong let me know.

Thanks you

I’ll try to help with what I know. Pic 1 - The big round hole (blue circle) with plug I think is a drain hole the snaps are for the original carpet, half under carpet other half on top of carpet. I don’t know what the two small holes (red circle) are fore, but on mine there were several small holes covered by tape from the factory.
Pic 2 - small oval (yellow) holes are for luggage strap attachment. Large yellow holes may be for roll bar. Not sure about the holes in the small blue oval, may have been added by PO foe roll bar.
Pic 3 - small yellow are for boot snaps just like the one in the middle. Blue circles on wheel wells are for factory shoulder harness. I’m not sure what I’m seeing for the red ovals. Hope this helps and is correct.

On pick number two, looking from the trunk view the center Poste hole does not match the sets of two to either side.
It looks like there’s an additional set of brackets and holes that are mounted to the trunk that they are not showing from the inside

Now that I blew your picture up I see that there are two holes and not just one as I thought. The two holes are for the other end of the luggage strap. Also I think that the 4 holes you show in the trunk, as well as the unidentified holes in red on the package tray are for the factory roll bar. It also seems likely that an aftermarket roll bar was installed at some point.

Correct - there was an aftermarket roller installed ... I removed that when I got the car. and didn't circle those holes in the pictures.
I was looking at one of the Roadsters currently for sale on BAT last night and it had the luggage straps installed ... I think that is correct.

Just need to determine what the x4 (each side) threaded holes on the far left and right are for They all have what appears to be the same square nuts welded to the back side.

Thanks for the help!

They are for the factory roll bar. Do a search for the factory roll bar and you should find a picture showing all the pieces and mounting brackets.

It looks like most has been covered. In the first picture, the holes marked with red appear to be for the optional foot rest.
