503 Gray paint formula?

Post by datsun1500 »

Any ideas on how to get 503 Gray mixed if the formula is not showing in the PPG system? It’s PPG 33026 but when they look that up, the colors needed to mix are blank.
I remember when no one wanted the 1500s......

I'd say you won't these days
When the auto paints acrillic enamel went to the chemical reaction for color system those color blending type paint went out
maybe a lacqueur paint though. But that's usually black , blue , green
I took a paint chip off my home to get it color matched by their CMOS Computer it matched the wet paint kinda , way off dry though

Did your paint guys contact PPG directly? I buy my paint from a wholesaler and he has contacted PPG and they have faxed old Datsun formulas to the shop while I waited.

That's what they are going to do for mine. None of them will show up in the modern system. They will not give it out unless you are a body shop or paint store. I tried.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

I've mentioned this before the formula is still in the Nissan paint system and they can pull it out for you, I had my local dealership produce a sample for me 2 years ago
I also had them do Pale Yellow 665.I ended up going a different color but still thinking about 503 for another project

The guy that needs it is in Malaysia. I’m just trying to get something painted and ship it down, or get him the formula.
