Cross Drilled / Slotted Brake Rotors

Post by Dave »

So I noticed this picture that Alvin posted in a "Libre wheels for sale" post:

http://community.webshots.com/photo/938 ... 1295lFxTtx

It looks like stock calipers behind those wheels so I'm also guessing the rotors are at least stock size. Anyone have any info on those rotors? Are they aftermarket or can you simply send your OEM rotors off someplace to be slotted and/or cross drilled?

Try here:

http://www.discpads.com/default.asp

It is an Australian site ("Disc Brakes Australia" makes the rotors), but I remember enquiring once before about shipping to the USA (somebody else on this forum was asking) and was surprised to find the price was not obsene.

Listed price per rotor is $146 + $20 shipping.

= $332

But that's Aussie dollars.

So, approx $250 US delivered.

I've purchased pads from these guys before and was extremely pleased with the service (delivered by courier to my door within 12hrs of ordering)

Anybody with experience with these think they make much difference? Wondering if you'd only really notice the difference on the track or some such.

All Ive really heard was they stay cooler.... So i guess for auto-x it helps them from warping. I had a friend that raced his 200sx and warped his rotors by auto-xing. But I would wait for more responses....

can you fit 14" wheels with volvo calipers?

I bet the install write up covers that, not sure...

I am runninng 14" slotted mags, I think the stock wheels would fit with even more clearance...

On "our" 1970 SPL with the Volvo front caliper conversion I've fitted the stock 14" steel wheels & 14" Z "Iron Cross" wheels with no problems.

if all you want is crossed drilled do it yourself. My neighbour and I have been drilling different patterns into VW rotor for a couple years for the local guys. We use a pattern from one of my motorbikes and it looks pretty cool.

Is balance a concern, or just use a symetrical pattern?
