Racing at Watkins Glen

Post by Mike Unger »

I usually try to give a head's up when we are racing but it was a hectic year so I didn't post earlier. We brought the 67 2000 up to Watkins Glen for the SVRA races last weekend. Race day on Sunday was rainy so it was an interesting race and some in car video is linked below. The race got interesting in the 5-7 minute mark when I decided to see if I could put some pressure on the two lead Group 3 cars for the overall win in the Group. We ended up winning in Group 3 and came in 3rd overall behind to sports racers in Group 5. A great photo below by my friend Ron Freudenheim. A fun weekend.

Congratulations, Mike! Well done, and thank you for sharing -- the audio and video are excellent. Curious as to what tyres you ran in those abysmal conditions?

p.s. the photo is a perfect fit for the next roadster calendar :smt023

Nice to see you got to drive the new/long course, not the old/short course.

Thanks everyone. I was on Hoosier rain tires. We have been running the long course every time I race there. I think NASCAR is one of the few groups to run the short course these days.

Very cool Mike, especially running the long course, the "boot"!
