I'll need some advice...

Unless things go pear shaped by next week I will have a 1967.5 1600. It's been sitting for 28 or so years in Nevada after being driven up here.
The issue is that the California title can't be found. The sub issue is that the car was titled to the wife, who passed away a year or so back. Husband is willing to do any needed paperwork including letters from the estate lawyer and any notarized papers needed.
Anyone go through this???
Yes it's a risk but I want a flat dash 1600 to duplicate MY late wife's roadster better than the '69 2000 I have now. (I may want a five speed box though :) )

Just go through the normal lost title process?

Usually it has to be titled back in Nevada ,before California can which may involve a ID/OD SLIP

If it is stored in NV, can the owner of the barn file for back storage fees on it & set a high enough minimum bid for the auction of the car that nobody would bid on it at the sale?

Peace,
Pat

A little off topic, but were you at the Air Races last week? Someone had a yellow 2L in the media lot. The car didn't look too bad, was originally silver.

Yes, that was me, and this happened there...
While I was in the pit area and the car was parked in the lot. I was a bit torqued.
They did contact me and are paying for the fender to be brought back to health.

That's the '69 2000. I also ended up with this 1967.5 1600:

Ouch, not cool! At least it wasn't a hit and run. It was still looking fine when I saw it.

Aside from the mangled fender (that might be fixable after its removed) the car looked pretty good. I didn't see anything scary with my semi thorough look over. Yep, needs work, but its clearly a project so okay it needs some work.

That half year 1600 doesn't look bad either. You have nearly all the parts, you could build a 67.5 2L clone pretty easily.

Will, I don't want to "break" the '69 2000, but if I find an U20 and five speed I can keep the original motor and transmission in storage.
Too many options to decide right now.
Fun cars to drive.

Here it is back home after getting it's wing fixed. The did a bit of cut and buff in the door above the trim piece.
