67 SRL in Northern Virginia

Hi All,

I just purchased this 67 SRL #028 off of Bring a Trailer. I've been loving it so far. Looking for Datsun Mechanic in the area to give the once over / safety check.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967- ... oadster-7/

What do you think? It's got a few non original parts going. I'm told the seats and air cleaner are from the wrong year.. Any thing else look odd? Hoping to make it mostly original.

Thanks, Chris

I was bidder #2 and was shocked when it met reserve.

Beautiful car Chris … and Welcome!

That’s also a nice treasure trove of documentation you have there.
Take the time to go through it carefully at some point and make a detailed list of what was fixed/replaced/added/etc and when, along with part numbers and Vendor contact details when possible - Down the road, you’ll be glad you did.

As for what’s original or not, you might want to look though the link below and then do a detailed comparison on each section with your car. That should provide the 95% solution - The U20 experts here can help you find the last 5% 😉

Hi Chris,

Beautiful car and hope you drive the heck out of it on the backroads of Virginia. Great to have another Roadster in the area (I'm live near Dulles).

I was pretty shocked I won. Thankfully my wife was pushing me to keep bidding. Now she is all in. Just got to get her some seat belts.

We have a pretty decent guide right here on 311s.org as well in the Tech Wiki. You can view it at this link.

Of course; my bad. I had assumed he already knew of 311s’ wiki.

Multiple sources and all …

Congrats again and so glad to see more and more roadsters coming to (or staying) in the DMV area!

Does anyone know a good Roadster mechanic in Northern Virginia or the DMV area?

Try Hillyard Automotive in Sterling, VA and ask for Brian Downey, long time Datsun racer. He's familiar with vintage Datsuns.

Look up Datsun Spirit in Manassas, VA. I have met the owner and he really knows vintage Datsuns. He specializes in the S30 Z-car, but he does U20 motors as well. Glad to have another 67 SRL in Virginia. Well bought by the way.
