shock boots or no?

Post by Redtail »

i'm going to buy a set of KYB - GR2 shocks from Summit Racing, wondering if I need shock boots too?

btw the correct part numbers would be nice if anyone has those too.

I don't think you'll need any boots for the front, and the rears have a steel guard that covers the piston rod. Seems to me that the rears always have that stone guard.

I got mine from Summit, and the numbers I used to order were 34316 & 34318. I can't remember which was for the front and which was for the rear, but they cost $86.75 for all four delivered.

They bolted right in, but the fronts were a little more difficult as they're gas shocks and want to expand out, and it's a bit harder to get the mounting plate lined up. The rears were no problem, but the gas tank on mine was out, so I had lots of room to work back there.

In a static (bounce) test, the rears feel OK with the NISMO comp springs, but the fronts feel a little under-damped with the Datsun Sports springs.

cool! thanks. I have stock springs all around so i figure it's worth a try. at 20 bucks a shock it's hard to lose.
