I've seen them with badges back in the day.

If anyone (read: probably Alvin 😏) has any pictures of these mounted (types of badges, number, placement) I would be interested in the details of how they apply to the Datsun cars/heritage. Like I said before, I’ve never seen it done on our cars, only British ones really.

The bars sold by Amco to owners of roadsters and 240Zs weren't promoted as providing much crash protection or as a location to hang badges, but rather to prevent bumper override from, e.g., that old dude (I'll be 75 soon, so allow me to say that) trying to parallel park his massive Electra 225 in front of you. The bar for the roadster is a four-point mount, so it does add some structural rigidity and helps to keep some distance between his bumper and your fragile headlight rims and expensive aftermarket driving/fog lights.

As the ad points out, the bars were also sold through Datsun USA:

Interesting 🤔 … so not really a badge bar then?
Now that my front bumper is off, I remember just how flimsy they are (more like chrome trim really). If I tried hard enough, I could literally fold it in half by hand. I don’t think it would stand much chance against a 19 ft. 4500 lb Buick at any speed.
If I’m being honest, I even get a bit worried when the neighbour’s kid is out on his plastic Big-Wheel Trike.

Now what do you suppose the odds are of that happening … 😂😂😂
Not exactly parallel parked, but a bit scary predictive there Jon 😏

No one has ever described me as prescient, Kai.
Looks like a fun gathering -- will you post other photos on "Where did you drive this weekend?"?

I hadn’t even seen a Buick Electra 225 in the last 10 years or so, but you managed to predict it five days in advance 😮 … and a shiny copper/bronze one at that.

Any insight on the next Powerball Jon? 🙂
