Just ran across this picture on the Neokla SCCA autocross Facebook page of me struggling in the rain to see where I’m going. 50 year old wipers move like a sleepy turtle when your trying to go as fast as you can on a tight course! It rained so hard it ruined our timing equipment and we had to cancel the event. Hoping for dryer times this month. Still it was great fun

Very Nice! I can’t keep the back end planted with my 1600 in the wet … can’t imagine how you kept it facing the right way with that one in the corners.

Quick question on how your region works with the HCS/HCR classification from the SCCA? Given that you have a 2000, do you add the E Street index?

I understand the concept of HCS as a guideline for car preparation. Are you running 200tw tires and do you limit rim width? On a local bases I will be running HS in my 1600 against some very quick Morgans. I have my work cutout for my self.

Termites might be the answer …

This is the first year for me doing autocross (unless you count the one lap I did in 1970 in my Spitfire which ended with a bent axle), so it’s not a serious endeavor for me. The just told me to run either the Street or the race class. My car fits in with the very liberal street Reg’s. Since so far there has only been one other car in my class, and he only showed up once, I don’t think they really care. There is a 510 HCR that shows up from another region sometimes shared by a man and his wife that is faster than stink. As far as tires, yes I run Falken Azenis 615’s. I didn’t see anything in the rules about wheel widths.

The Heritage Classic guide, found on the SCCA.com autocross web site in the rules section, allows for cars, up to 1974 a place to be grouped on a Regional Bases. Cars on street tires fall into HCS, Heritage Classic Street, cars on race tires end up in HCR. With the understanding that these cars are enhanced, not as manufactured, they can still be driven and enjoyed.

Yes, one of the four Morgans I run with is completely stock. But he has a driver and is not the fast guy. My 1600 will run with the H Street index, a 2000 and the Morgans run in E Street. Yes, a rubber bumper MGB can run with this group, just need to read the intent of the rules.
