Likely the speedo clutch is gummed up or hair caught on
it or a bearing isn't right.speedo shop time .
There's a inner and outer flywheel where the speedo cable secures, the outer is hooked to the cable the inner is geared to the speedo ,it takes 5-7 turns to peg the speedo, cable turning the outer which kind of grabs the inner magnetically but a piece of debrief or a tiny hornet can build a mud chamber there causing it to lock on to the other flywheel
..better got it fixed a cop could write you up for 160

Interesting, but there must be a lot more of them bent the other way. Can’t remember how many times someone has told me how they had a roadster back in the day that would easily peg the speedometer
