Judsen Suprcharger

Post by Howard R »

I was readling a 1968 Car and Driver, and a 1967 Road and Track. There is an ad for a Judsen Supercharger. For Triumphs, MG's, Volvo, Corvair, Datsun, etc. They say that there is a 40% horsepower increase. I was curious if anyone knows the history or info. So, for about $230.00(1968 money), you can get 180+ horsepower from your datsun 2000????

The Judson Supercharger is a fairly low pressure vane type supercharger. I have seen reference to one being available for the 1600 (even talked to someone that claimed to have one), but have not seen one. They typically used one carburetor, and the supercharger for the inline engines mounted on the manifold. I think that one would be a way cool addition to a Roadster. Not for the power, but for the gee whiz factor. Given the costs for the more mundane and plentiful VW versions, I can only imagine what a Roadster version would bring in the open market.

I really would like to see one on a Roadster. That would be a really neat piece of history!

Damn! I don't know what's more interesting regarding that eBay auction; the Judson Supercharger or a Chevy Corvair in Australia.
