Yeah, careful with that one. It hasn't been reproduced that I know of. Some Vendor mentioned a year or so back it hasn't been reproduced primarily because it rarely fails.

I just learned something new because someone was asking me if I had the plastic tail light socket. After a looking at a bunch of photos I noticed other Datsun sockets in particular the Z look the same as the roadster.

I have a 280ZX parked at my house and just tried the roadster socket in it. Bingo, exactly the same. 240Z to 280ZX and other Datsuns use the same socket.

I'm sure the Z has a Molex style connector? So a direct replacement for a 1970 roadster, change out to bullet terminals for 1967.5-1969? And change out internal tail light housing assy. for 1965-1967 in order to use?

Yup,changing the molex is easy as snip and crimp on bullets. I put the plastic in my 66 and 67. Screw the rubber, I don't care if it looks original in the damn trunk.

I have new lights for the 67 and bought new centers from Rallye for the 66 and had the housings rechromed.

The Zs are a 4 light harness. You can buy aftermarket sockets on ebay for cheap from Thailand and elsewhere.

I got it. I now have brake lights and driving lights. No blinkers but I think I know what that is. At least I can drive the car while I work on it now.

Here you go: https://www.ebay.com/itm/275302361581?h ... SwGExiddtF

Less than $10 for two. Add the centers and you have good lights.

Curtis, if you have the time could you post a photo of the socket showing the locking tabs. I suspect Standard Motors, or Dorman makes some universal product that will twist right in. I'm thinking this linked socket might work as it supposedly works with the 510. (3rd. Photo shows the tab pattern) Same item less than $3 @ Rock auto.

We're getting off topic now except it might help the OP replace his lights cheaply.

Thanks Curtis,

It looks like a definite maybe match. I just need to track down some late housing innards to confirm.

Great, report back. Maybe a Parts Interchange candidate!
