Glove box door

Cleaning and prepping glove box door for powder coating. Should you separate the glove box door from its hinge plate or just do it as a single piece? If you separate into two pieces, how? The hinge pin is barely exposed by the spring (circled in red), and there's little to no clearance to attempt to drive the very, very thin hinge pin out.
