2000 engine install
Has anyone tried to put in a motor with the intake and exhaust manifolds bolted on. It seems like I put one in like this or maybe I was dreaming.

Re: 2000 engine install
Definitely a two person job, but not a problem taking it out or putting it back in.

Re: 2000 engine install
So it is possible to put the engine in with the exhaust and intake manifolds put on. Thats a lot easier than putting on after engine is in thanks!

Re: 2000 engine install
I've done it several times, made easier with the the carbs removed (only way I've done it). The exhaust collector can limit movement. I have a comp pan. Engine angle makes a difference but I didn't use a leveler until recently and didn't find it to be that helpful.
Just watched Will's video... perfect example, with a comp pan too! Note the engine angle, that's key.

Re: 2000 engine install
I recently installed mine and had to remove the oil pan as well as forcing the header past the motor mount. Was very difficult to do.

Re: 2000 engine install
Done it many times. So many in fact, it takes me about 2 hours to do it. Someone cut out the brace so it is easy to reomve the starter.

Re: 2000 engine install
It can be done with one person, and can be done with headers and intake installed. Carbs have to come off if you have Mikunis, SUs might clear the brake master cylinder. The angle is key, but as you can see from my video, installing it is just as easy as removal, the only difference is that you have to reach in and lift the transmission tailshaft up onto the frame as you install. That does take a little effort, but not a lot. Install is lower, push inward, lower, in, essentially go in as far as you can until the transmission touches something, then lower until it clears. Repeat until its in.
