Rear drum cylinder to 510 question

Ok I read you can use the 510 cylinders if you swap out to metric fittings. Issue i am having is on the rodster the bleeder aims down and away. But the 510 looks like it is going to hit right into thw shackle mount.
Anyone else have this issue?

There have been some write ups on this conversion, but I don't recall your issue coming up. If you get by this issue and figure out the CORRECT SAE to Metric adapter to make this work, please post the P/N.

I am not using the adapter. I will be making my own lines with the metric to sae fittings. Yes I looked at a couple past post. I did not see any actual write up. Just people mentioning the cylinders can be switched.

Rather than using adapters, I found that the rear wheel cylinders from a Triumph TR3/4 with Girling brakes and the slotted piston (part number 021-151 from Moss Motors) is a bolt in. You will need to adjust the parking brake as the pivot point is in a slightly different location.

I took a look at those. The bleeder seems to be pointing the same direction as the 510 ones. You have tried those personally? And no issues with bleeding ?

I have them on a car functioning properly. As I stated though, you will need to adjust your parking brake linkage.

Ok thanks. I might try the 510 ones and see if I can make them fit. If they don't I can try those out. If you have a chance could you snap a picture for me? I am curious the gap you have for the bleeder to shackle.

My work schedule is crazy, I don't know when I would be able to take a picture.

No worries. Totally understand. Well I thought I would post some info for those interested in doing this in the future. I used the 510 cylinders and the 510 shoes. Here are photos of the part numbers and installed.
Here is a side by side

On A side note. When I got the car it was sitting for years. And these 2 cylinders were locked with corrosion. So something to check for those with this issue. Which i took apart and cleaned and regressed .

Jay - I assume you didn't have any issues with the bleeder running into the shackle but I wanted to check as I am going the same route you are.

You can have a custom line made with the metric and SAE. Local place will do it but probably not stainless, not a big deal. Maybe I'll get a couple cylinders and have them do this just for the heck of it.

Bought a couple cylinders just to see. Now that I come back here and look at the photo I see the bleed screw will clear. Going to have a line made with metric on the one end for the cylinder.

Nice thing about those 510 cylinders is that over the years they came in 13/16 and 3/4 inch like our Roadsters. So just a matter of sorting out the line threads.

I saw that listing as well, I just didn't really pay to much attention to the title and missed what was actually being sold. To bad the seller didn't clean up that rear end and add some wheel cylinders so you could feel more comfortable that he nailed the proper lengths.
