67 and older have sockets with the rubber cover with two or three wires. You can easily change the wiring for 4 three wire boots. However most of the boots are old and broken.
68 to 70 have the twist in plastic socket with all being three wire.
69 and 70 are wired differently from the 68 in the way they work.

Because of the lack of good boots all mine have been changed to readily available twist in.

The frame has mounting holes for the reverse light on both sides. I added a third brake light to one side. Even down there it can seen since it is a very bright halogen.
Curtis,
Don't the 70's have a rectangular pug and not the 3 wire setup?

The (early too?) late 70s have the 3 wire modular plug instead of bullets. Easy to change either way or make a short adapter to use.

For some depth to the conversation, as most users on this site are from North America, the amber turn (or indicator in other places) was standard in countries for export and Japan's own home market. The use of red turn is market specific as far as I am aware just to North American markets (in period times).

So I'm not referring to a turn signal. I asking about the "small rear upper reflector", which is amber. Any thoughts on that one? Thanks.

I have never seen an amber one myself if they used them, I have seen plenty that are so faded they look amber.

Hmmm, maybe just faded; I’ll take a closer look and if I still think it’s really an amber one I’ll post a couple pics. It’s pretty cool looking actually. 😄

Looking closely I see no signs of fading, dulling, discoloration. The car is original, no mods. I vaguely remember seeing this somewhere way back in the ‘70s when I had my ‘69 2000. I don’t recall it being on my car back though. There something to this, surely others have seen this somewhere. Sure looks yellow as original. Wonder if it was on non US cars or off another model?
