Where does the Drag link washer go? On top of the boot or underneath boot?

All the rubber boots are disintegrated so I order a new set of rubber boots for all the ball joints, tie rods, and drag links. My question is though, where does the washer go? On top of the boot or inside the boot?

This might help, not sure I'm seeing a washer in the diagram. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place or an inaccurate diagram?

I don't recall a washer used with the tapered shafts.

I believe that the washer was part of the original boot. I used the urethane Energy Suspension ones without one. No issues. FWIW Pat

I got the energy suspension boots as well, do I need snap rings with these?

I got the energy suspension boots as well, do I need snap rings with these?
No, compression fit.
