I can’t stop myself from using the top of the firewall as a tool tray. It is just so convenient. Usually I put rags up there but this foam cushioned drawer liner material will hopefully work better.

I use the top of the firewall with towels too....what a GREAT idea !....speaking of great ideas, I've been meaning to ask everyone their personal opinions about their favorite, or recommendations for a good work light. Mine sucks,....and it's been sucking for about 45 years....time for something new....what does everyone like ?
P.S. I don't mean to hijack this thread, and request the moderators to recommend if I need to start a new one.
thanks, Mike

I really like to drawer liner, good job, I have some on order. For 23yrrebuild I am using these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0972XCG19/re ... MGWNQNQWKY . I like having the light where I am looking and they get pretty bright.

Thanks for the headlamp link, Mike.

Great idea, i need to do the same. As for a work light I have used one of these for the last 4 or 5 years and really like it. It holds a charge for a long time and is very rugged, I have dropped it many times without hurting it.

I prefer to use the top of the battery (between the posts) as a tool tray. That way I always get a ‘subtle’ reminder when I have too many damn tools laying about 😒

Maybe I should try this instead …

Funny that people have brought up lights... last week I finally replaced my 80 watt regular bulbs (2) that were barely lighting things up to these 6 adjustable panel LED lights and OMG are these things great! I go into the garage and think that the sun is out and the doors are open... huge difference.

While we are recommending lights. These are great! I bought the 2 pack so that when one was recharging, another is ready to go. The wave on-off feature is handy to save the charge when not in use.
Multifunction switch provides the correct amount of light in different conditions. FWIW Pat
