US $2.5 million
Quite the price for our old competitor in the SCCA CP Class.
Wonder who has production #00001 of the ‘67 SRL311 2000 🤔

This was a very special car, having been prepped by Carroll Shelby Racing for SCCA. 150% premium over a "regular" 2000GT is pretty pricey, though.

Good question re: Who has SRL-00001? I've often wondered that, or if it even survived. Earliest car in the registry is -00097.

The earliest 67 2000 that has actually been seen is SRL-00003, which is currently under restoration.

From the Peterson archives-- the 2000GT on the track with Jack Scoville in his C-Production Datsun roadster-- he always said the 2000GT, while beautiful, was never competitive in SCCA racing.

A good history video here of the Toyota 2000GT (even brought the DVD from Japan);

I agree that the premium for this particular car was its unique owner/racing history, not the serial number. The Shelby connection had much to do with it given that the car wasn't a championship winning car.
