Well ... I got away with it for a while ...

The doors don't lock so I don't keep much of anything in the car ... but two of the three things I use most got stolen this morning. My cheap, clip-on Wall-Mart sun glasses & case ... and my clip-on, larger-than-stock rear view mirror. They didn't take the Datsun hat.
Been lucky so far ... I guess it's time to get the locks fixed.

mine was hotwired and stolen recently but I got it back. Other than that no one has tried the tonneau.

Door locks are really only for show with a button down convertible top. If you happen to have the hardtop on, it is only marginally better.
For me, a simple ‘High-Vis’ steering wheel lock bar (w/laser-cut keys) is the only real deterrent I can use. Needless to say, nothing is left in the open …

The people who buy a new convertible are slow to get it.
I remember a Jetta or golf cabriolet that got the knife to the top to open her door , 2k to replace , and they did .months later same problem , the service writers told her not to lock it ....the young woman thinking wish I hadnt bought a rag top

There’s no free lunch, and a convertible door lock has no theft deterrent value.

Electric fuel pump switch. I turn it off and run the carbs dry.
Only thing I had grow legs was a rear screw off red running light?

While it won't stop low lifes from scrounging through your car and taking what they want, my kill switch gives me a little more piece of mind. The switch kills the EFI computer and high pressure pump but not the low pressure pump or the starter so they think it might fire off... but it wont! Doesn't stop them from dragging it off though. The only time I lock my doors is when I'm in it as part of the "pre-flight" check list between my wife and I... if the doors don't lock then they are not fully closed! I had a cheap stereo stolen out of my Datsun PU when I was a kid. Not only did they not take all my tools that were in a tool box behind my seat, they did tons of damage to the heater control cables under the dash, which just happened to be specific to the first year ('73) version I had. It took me hours and hours to source those in wrecking yards, all for a stupid $60 stereo...
Sorry to hear of your experience... never nice to feel violated even if they didn't get much.

Yup, have it, use it. They might grab some crap from the car but they are not driving it away.

If a crook wants your car, he is going to get it. When the Porsche 930 came out, one was stolen from a private owner over his 10-foot concrete block wall. They used a crane and a flatbed they were gone in 10 minutes

And the odds they're driving around with that?
Ya, we're certainly not a 930.

In my past I’ve been a alarm installer on higher end cars and do know if they want it bad enough they will get it.
Im going with a fully armored keyless system that will not be circumvented easily with push button start and I will not be locking the doors, hell might shave the locks at this point!
Just a note, I would have taken the hat!
