Seeking Clutch Master Enlightenment

Ok so continuing the trend of replacing every bit of rubber.

Clutch master was seeping ever so slightly on the firewall side. The kit I got 30611-08726 didn't fit, the front bit is too wide to get into the cylinder. Mine is Tokico branded. Maybe the kit is for Nabco? Were they just mixed or is there certain models/years that used one or the other?

Anyway, the piston and seals I took out look brand new. Seals are still supple with no sign of any damage whatsoever. Bore is smooth and clean.

Since my kit wasn't right I threw it back together and will monitor for more seeps.

Why TF would it leak in that situation???

Is there any source for just piston seals? Tokico specific rebuild kit?

I feel silly replacing a like-new OEM part with something aftermarket but also feels like I'm chasing my ass with these expensive kits.

Vw techs had a special tool for bugs used a very thin split cyl that compressed the seal , I used it on bug master cyl a number of times
Also you can warm the seal up with hot water
And there's a Technic of pulling it in with vacuum

To clarify, the metal bit on the front of the kit piston was too large to enter the bore.

The part number of the kit that you have a photo on over on the Facebook page is for a 5/8 bore cylinder but that does not necessarily mean that is what was packed into the bag. But your micrometer reading of 15.78mm is 5/8, not sure what's going on.

Out of a desire to save the Tokico, I scavenged the piston out of a Beck Arnley 072-6521, $27 on Amazon. Installed and bled fine, no leaks yet but we'll see how it does overnight.
