Was wondering if anybody had any links handy with anybody else doing this swap, I’m having a hard time finding much on the interwebs. I’ve gone through the build, gnoplos, has posted- very intriguing, just wondering if there’s much else out there on this swap!

Thank you! There isn’t too much info out there on this, but from what I can gather (like you said as well) the crossmember needs to be modified and maybe some hood spacers added to the hood to accommodate the new slightly taller vq.
I’m unable to watch the video , because I don’t have Facebook , thank you for sharing!

If I recall, there was a VQ35 Roadster from Ontario that recently sold on BaT. It had a few pictures of the frame mod....but be damned if i can find that listing again.

Very clean build
I’ve moved to the vg30 from a z31
Haha just beginning the process!

The thing on 03 era engines ,is they have PCM , over ECU , so other systems are hooked into the engine perf. like ABS , Traction control , and needs the mated Trans pulse generators imput or it will go to failsafe setting .

Hmmm very interesting, when did pcms begin to be used? Would I be in the clear working with a vg30 from an pre 87 300z?

It depends , by manufacturer, but easy way is to see if the controller is a power train controller module or Engine control module , the high $ rides were earlier than the standard cars many SUVs had pcms but some earlier ( 86)cars had ECUs and TCUs which were almost the same as PCMs the ECU s processor is the size of a SD flash drive. But the failsafe processor is the size of a #2 pencil eraser and can fail onlong term use

Could both a PTCM and an ECU be replaced by an aftermarket system? Going to do so researching now
Edit: the vg is using an ecu

I forgot to mention Danr's VG30E build and Lenny Sprague's:
