Eh Canada ?

Good day
HappyNew Year to everyone.
I thought I’d reach out to as many Canadian Roadster owners out there in this vast country of ours. With border restrictions, travel distance and import costs for parts , I thought it might be a good idea to have a list of Canadian owners, in one handy thread. This could become a great resource for parts swaps, used buy and sell as well as meets, fun runs, and general Canadiana. It’s hard to know who has a roadster in various parts of Canada...who knows , there might be another one tucked in a garage just down the street.
Just adding to an already great 311.org resource
So add to the thread. Say hi... even talk about your ride...
I’m in St Albert , Alberta . Population 60,000. I know of no other roadster in my city. I’ve seen one. Hahaha. And a few I know of in neighbouring Edmonton, population 1,000,000.
Am I the most northern datsun roadster in Canada?
53-630280 N. latitude. Hahaha
So from the land of double double, Tim Biebs, kph, wipers pulled away from your windshield when you park, winter extension cords dragging down the road, blue juice jugs filling the garage, tires with mountain snowflakes stamped on them , drastic maneuvers to avoid moose, and if you hit one...thank god for universal healthcare.. hahaha
Chat at ya

Hey Steve. Well, this one isn’t likely to make the ‘Hot Thread’ list here
There’s an old story from 1895 about the very first two motor cars in Ohio. Story goes, they were so shocked to see one another that they ended up having the first ever recorded motor vehicle accident.
I can imagine a modern day repeat if I ever came across another Datsun Roadster on the roads here in Nova Scotia.
On a side note, I’ve had to throw a few more ‘Datsun’ badges on so people would stop asking me if it was a MG - A forgivable mistake since you just don’t see any around these parts.
Kai
P.S. Happy New Year all!

Who knows Kai, maybe there are a few other roadsters in beautiful Nova Scotia. I’ve been there many times and I love it there. Lots of winding coastal roads.
Yes “ is that an mg†is often heard. I also hear “ geez haven’t seen one of those for year†... or. “ my dad used to have one just like itâ€.

I have several Canadian Roadster buddies who have traveled all the way to the Shasta meet in CA for years, as well as at least two great vendors (Ross, Sports Imports who started the Shasta meet, and Carl Jaegar, New Datsun Parts). They made me an honorary Canadian and I have a Canadian flag pin on my visor... love these guys and gals! I do know that Carl's son traveled all the way across the country and then down to Shasta a few years ago, but I'm afraid my geography knowledge of Canada is pretty limited so I don't recall where he started from.
And of course, who can forget Captain Canada (Sean Kirk) at Shasta... someone has to have a pic somewhere! Ahhh, smiles...

Never been as far west as Cali with my 2000 Solex, but it has been to Mosport, Île Notre-Dame, St. Jovite, and Trois Rivières, and returned with beaucoup Labatts, eh?

I'm in Drummondville Qc and have 3 of them 67spl, 67.5SPL and 69 SR20 swap
If i draw a circle within an hour drive from my house I count 13 running and driving roadsters (and probably as many non running) whom I know the owners personally and seen the cars including everything from a 64 3 seater to sequentially numbered 67 2000s (car 609 & 610)
I just hope that 2022 will get us a chance to get all together for the first time last time in 2020 because of the pandemic we were only 4

Hi Jacques. Thanks - That’s very interesting. In the dozen or so years I’ve lived here I have never seen another Roadster. You think I would have at least crossed paths with them at some point on the streets, parking lots, coffee shops, restaurants, malls, Costcos, etc. Good call on the Atlantic Z Club, I never really considered it because, well, it’s not a ‘Z’ - Maybe they won’t mind hearing from a Roadster owner
P.S. That’s a nice collection you’ve got there

Well, it’s Official then Greg! Once made an honorary Canuck, there are no take-backs!
Just show them this post at the Border next time you come up for real beer

Clearly you’ve already found our #1 export Bob … Nicely done! Everything else is much like the US, except less people and more distance between things …

Hey Kai ...
Here in Kelowna I've seen a couple Roadsters, but more 510's & Z's actually driving around. I hear there's a few stashed away...a couple guys with multiples just south of me. I seem to meet one or two more owners a year close by. Maybe I'll be able to arrange a "Cars & Coffee" in the spring.

Hi Ralph. Dammit - I love the Okanagan! Spent a decade or so living in Victoria and always liked vacationing in the Valley. Now that is prime Roadster country. Good luck on the Cars & Coffee plan - Post pics!

Great participation everyone! Great to hear from all canucks...and I’m know there are more out there . I agree Greg, Ross in Vancouver has been an awesome resource. Helps with duty costs up here. I’m sure there are many many roadsters in the lower mainland of BC. I am out that way often visiting family in Maple Ridge and always see 510s and Z s.
Keep adding to this thread! I know of a few more in Calgary Alberta and south .
Who knows??? Maybe regional meets can come out of this. Pjacko, nice collection. Nice garage floor lol

There had been some talk of a Canada location for an annual meet but covid put that off. It's been way to many years since I've seen my beer... ah, I mean Canadian friends... I sure hope we can do something this year cause I'm ready!
Those who are closer to the Washington/Canada border are regular participants in State-side meets such as Shasta, Solvang and now Shedd. I went to the 3rd Shasta meet back in the day and got my first "exposure," immediately making friends with this fun and easy going group. 30+ years later it's still the same feeling with maybe a little less beer, and hair.
