Emergency Pre 69 Trunk Release

Inspired by the Hood Release here's my version for the trunk for the pre 1969's incase you lock your keys or the lock stopped working.
The hardest part was to loop it around the bottom support, glue the string to the tip of the screw and tying to the latching mechanism.

Yes, nice and clean. I used the "drill a hole in the trunk" method and threaded down a puller (in this case a strong zip tie). The advantage of that is that we (wife and I) can open the trunk without a key (discreetly of course!).

That's a great idea! I will do a version of this for sure.
The glue scares me a bit though, I could see the string pulling free and plummeting back into the trunk with a fading wail – "Oh nooooooo!!..."
What about tying the outer tag of the string to a small rubber washer hidden between the body and the license plate?
Just thinkin' out loud.
Good stuff, thanks!

Thinking the same thing, there is plenty of space near the middle of the license plate frame / body to tuck in the end of the pull string.

Too much work!
Use a piece of piano type wire straight down through the rubber hole plug. Put a loop if you want or leave it straight so you need pliers to pull.

Thank you all for your comments.
I just didn't want to unnecessarily drill a hole into my pristine 1968 trunk whether on the bottom or behind the plate as one recommended (license plate wiring is exterior for this and previous years).
This option just like the hood release, incase the cable breaks but for the trunk it is incase the keys are left in the trunk. Just a one time deal. I want to keep the car as original as possible.
Thanks!

Early cars (as noted above) don't have that hole with the rubber plug.

I don't have that much faith in myself...
