I found on a couple posts that the minimum pressure to press the rear wheel bearing retainers needs to be 3 tons, minimum. Is that the accepted pressure, or has that information been superseded? Is there a maximum pressure?

Ive mostly driven them on with a pipe ( a collar welded to it) as a slide hammer , hub setting on a steel cyl block so you can see they are snug ...heated with a propane torch
Ive done many nissans to mitsus this way
It used to take other 2 techs 25 min to press on

Take the axles to a transmission shop to have the bearings pressed on if you don’t have a machine shop nearby.

I heated mine with an inductive bearing heater for less interference fit...but yes, it's a heavy interference fit

I have done this job 3 Times I just used a shop Press about 2 Tons dunked the collars in water and pressed them on, never had an ounce of trouble.
I think these little jobs a lot of people tend to over think them..

“Little”, but critical job. I remember a story on the forum of an owner that killed himself messing it up. If you have a press and know what you’re doing, great. If not, take it to someone that does.

Ive seen collars that press on way to easy and can separate techs think if they press it hard that will help reason I prefer the hammer method
Many of datsun parts were made in very poor asian countries with old equipment and were not uniform in the 70s& 80s

I have a run of brand new ones in process right now using modern techniques and modern 65Mn spring steel. Also, Nissan won't have these forever as they no longer make them.
