Headlight scoops: thin vs thick

My '70 1600 has the thick rimmed headlight scoops, and my '70 1600 parts car has the thin ones.
Questions:
What is correct for which years?
When did they transition from one to the other?
With the running changes, and the "use what's available" philosophy, I'll bet some cars ended up with one of each.
