What are folks using for 90 degree Nozzle Fuel Bowl Hose "pipettes?

The early Hoses are question mark shaped, later cars had a "J" shaped hose for the 180 degree Nozzles. The Roadster car parts manual for the 1600 shows a picture of the old question mark shaped hose corresponding to P/N 16356-12210. That P/N is showing still available at Nissan. There is no superseded P/N in the on line parts catalog. I'm sure that if I ordered that part from Nissan I'd get the later style "j" shaped hose for 180 degree nozzles.

Venders don't have the old style question mark shaped hose. So what are others using as a replacement?. I know in some old threads some are using Tygon 4040-A Weed Wacker hose, at least in later cars to save money. Tygon is only rated to 165 degrees, so that is probably why it only lasts for so long before getting hard and potentially dangerous for leak/fires. I would find it hard to believe that Z Therapy is using Tygon with there complete SU refurbs, so there must be a better alternative out there, anyone know what that is?

Thanks<p>

I have a set of freshly rebuilt ZTherapy carbs in the shop. I don’t know which version they are but I can look tomorrow or Monday.

Peace,
Pay

VITON tubing.....it's pretty much chemically inert, high temperature resistant....Google or go to Wikipedia for more info......

I'll look into it, heat is one element, looping the angle to the Nozzle without crimping is the other.

Thanks

I use motion pro hose. It's gray, I think Tygon. I've used it on my bike for a long time and it stays nice and flexible.

How about on your Roadster, using it?

yessir. My carbs were rebuilt by ztherapy back in 07 and whatever black line they used was leaking. (fair enough, it sat for 13 years). Used the extra motionpro I had and it's still nice and pliable, no more leaks. Probably only like 200 miles on it though.

Looks like 3/16 id is the ticket, anyone with thought on wall thickness? 1/16 and 1/8th are the options with Viton.

Thanks

I think 1/8" would be too thick.
I had an issue with my rebuilt carbs many years back. The tubing provided by the vendor was too THIN and would kink. I ended up finding the tubing off some old SU parts I had sitting around and they've worked ever since.

If the VITON tubing is viable, it might be worth putting some on a hanger bent to the shape of the originals and hitting it with a heat gun to get them close to the proper curvature.

You can try it that way, I'm not sure the Viton would heat mold, but worth a try.I would use the thin wall, with a light weight coil spring, on the outside, or SS spring on the inside, to keep it from kinking. I know for certain the older, Volvo SU's pipes are like that (I've owned over 2 dozen Volvos, '59 to '72). I'm NOT certain, but maybe the MGB's have a similar SU pipe design.
For my roadster, I bought some Viton thin wall tubing, for my parts "future-proofing" program, and thought it was ideal, but decided to keep using the OEM pipes I got from Rallye years ago. They're still in great shape.

I just took 2 pics of a carb I had test fitted with the Viton tubing. It actually, doesn't really have much of a kink, just a slight reduction at the bend, but I would bet it would still flow good.

Don't know if this is relevant to a 1600, but for my 69 2000, I bought part #16356-25610 from Nissan, which I believe might be for an early Z. They work just fine! Hope this might help. Paul

That looks pretty darn good. Did you go with 3/16 ID, 1/16 wall Viton?

Thanks
