Ignition Coil and Spark Plug choices

Hi all,
I have an H20 engine with a new electronic ignition setup, I have made a set of new HT leads but I need additional parts.
Which ignition coil and spark plugs should I buy to fit this new setup, does it really matter?
Perhaps a silly question, I appreciate any answers.

I'd go with the coil that is recommended by the EI manufacturer. I'd also go with stock plugs.
Peace,
Pat

This is good advice.
It definitely matters. EI's are designed for a particular coil resistance. If you go to low, you will kill the EI. If you go too high, you are probably reducing final output (spark) of the system. How it is connected and whether you have an ignition resistor or not also matters.

If you are thinking of an ‘upgrade’, a combo Pertronix electronic ignition and Flame Thrower coil (or anything similar really) can provide an increase to your power stroke over the stock points and coil. Remember to also increase your factory spark plug gap a bit (say between .005″ - .010â€) and re-tune your initial spark advance afterwards. There is a HP and Tq- curve gain to be had with an upgrade

Don't forget the contribution of higher capacity distributor and plug leads.

Not sure if this is the best answer but because the many aftermarket EI setups use the matchbox module, I use a coil from those Nissan vehicles (280ZX is one, there are many others). I run the NGK BP6ES (same as a ZX) with the matchbox EI.
