Back Date E-brake Assembly Possible?

Is it possible to swap out a late model e-brake setup (‘67.5 - 70) to an earlier Low Windshield ‘66 an down?

If so does the whole assembly need to be swapped? I am looking to add the handle to a ‘67.5

I assume the captive nuts on the floorpan align the same but am not sure if the mechanisms changed allowing or preventing.

Looking for swap potential without excessive cutting or welding.

I'd like that info too, please. I've always preferred the look of the later "bent handle w/ the molded handgrip.
