I thought this could be of interest to the group. I just received these quotes, good for 30 days. I have never dealt with Apple Hydraulics but other 311s members have and were pleased best I recall. Here is the current pricing for sleeving / sleeving + rebuild and thought I'd pass it along. THIS IS FOR BRASS SLEEVING / SS higher

Sleeve only

Single stage Master Brake / Clutch $115
Dual Circuit Brake Master $145
Rear wheel Brake Cylinders $65
Sumitomo Front Brake Cylinders $75 ea. x 4

Sleeve + Rebuild

Single stage Master Brake / Clutch $245
Dual Stage Master Brake Cylinder $285
Rear wheel Brake Cylinders $95
Sumitomo Front Brake Cylinders $115 each

As far as Brass vs. SS, a cursory look on-line appears to be a bit of a tomato vs tomatoe discussion.

Yep. That’s the price that I paid a couple months ago for brass sleeves from them. They did a good job…pretty sure I posted pics in another thread when I got them back. Their thought on SS was that it’s only beneficial for cars that will sit for very long times between use, to help avoid corrosion in the cylinder.

Certainly the Brass vs SS topic can bring up discussions. I know in past years a few 311s members spoke well of Sierra Specialty Automotive in Quincy CA. whom provided Sleeving Service. The Owner retired and I guess choose to shut down the business. But the website is preserved for historical purposes. Here is his take on the Brass vs, SS sleeves. Also real good general information can be found in the Brake FAQ section.

I just had front and rear cylinders bored and brass lined, fully rebuilt with new seals for $85 per piece.. They did an excellent job on all pieces and they look brand new. They can do almost any work like this as well as Vac boosters. Turn around time is a couple weeks or so, but i just had a pile of spares done so no issue with that.

Do they have the rebuild kits or do you have to provide them?

By chance did you get quotes for just sleeving, no rebuild?

At this point the only one I would consider is Sumitomo cylinders. Not very inviting when you can buy new from Sin City for less.

Yeah the rebuild costs are too high except Sumitomo. But for someone wanting to keep it as original as possible or thinking about entering their cars in shows I would consider just the sleeving on the Master cylinders and rebuilding them yourself. Having the original Tokico / Nabco on the castings might gain some points.

I have sleeving only quotes in with Whitepost. I'll report back if I hear from them.

I had caliper cylinders sleeved by Karp's. Good work, done in stainless. I had a couple of Nissan rebuild kits on the shelf. They were slow, but worth the wait. An XKE kit fits and is cheap.

Btw, i need some inner pistons as a PO dorked some of mine up.

No, not the whole cylinder, just the piston inside. My cylinders have been sleeved, but a PO crushed the pin that the pads slide onto.

White post had all the kits and seals for both the fronts and rears. when I dropped off the fronts I was looking to just get them sleeved, but a whole finished piston was just another ten bucks, they fully assembled and pressure tested them too.
