Quick Update
Windshield on-- looking a lot like a car now-- special thanks to Eric Straw for the extra set of hands!
New windshield glass makes all the difference too! Now if I could just get my seats...

They are off for testing-- still some electrical to sort out on this in the evenings. Plus I need to find one more stainless wiper assembly (I only have one correct one), and then cut down some blades inserts to fit.And don't forget those windshield wipers!

This color combo turned out to be achingly beautiful. Kudos to you for seeing it on a Jeep and having the ability to envision it on a roadster. Some lucky buyer is going to enjoy the hell out of this car, and look good doing it. Considering what the Frontline Developments restomod MGBs are going for, this car is going to be a bargain, be prettier, and not have a 3 year waiting list.
Is there a brand / part # for the wiper blade inserts that you cut down to fit the roadster assembly? I need to do that exact job asap.

Wow, What an amazing build. Thanks for sharing the journey. You're bringing the craftsmanship to the Datsun Roadster that Rob Dickerson brought to Porsche with his Singer builds. I love how you keep the (mostly) Nissan components throughout the project.

Swoon!
Just lovely.
What do you think about a different finish on the Wat spokes, a shade darker maybe.

Again, when we can finally drive the car and take some proper photos hopefully it will show the finish a little better.

Great question, and I went around and around on the wheel color on this car. These photos kind of blow out the color-- it is actually a titanium finish (a warm, goldish silver) which seems to work pretty well. We tried a gun-metal color, and while it looked kind of mean, it was a bit tone-on-tone for me.What do you think about a different finish on the Wat spokes, a shade darker maybe.

As much as I love Panasports, I'm thinkinig Watanabes would be okay.
Are these Wats the same model and size as the ones on your '66, Michael?

I have a love/hate relationship with this build. So many ideas that I believe would have changed some of the thinking on my car. especially the exterior and interior colors, decisions that have been made and committed to. Oh, well........
Just noticed; is the cockpit surround chromed?

Thanks, Sid. Just went back and now I see that same question was asked and answered earlier.

Re: Project Sting-Grey - a 1966 Restomod With SR20DE Power!
Test, Tune, Rinse, Repeat
Getting these cars over the finish line is a ton of work-- and today the schedule finally aligned so I could take the car out and really stretch its legs. Out of the box, it is pretty good, but there is always a list of details to sort out, but the weather was spectacular here this weekend, and I could not resist just opening it up and letting it sing. First stop was the scales, and the Sting-Grey weighed right in at 2100lbs.
Then I had my son do a couple drive byes so I could see how it looked in motion m(terrible cell phone shot, but it captured the moment!):
Then I took it up to see Eric Straw and shot this quick shot as I was leaving his driveway...
Lots of little things to sort out, but I'll be driving, testing, tuning, and sorting as long as the weather holds out!
