Feasibility of Replacing Early Steering Box with RB Box

Post by devauxmidwest »

I've got a '68 2000 that has both a leaking steering box and leaking idler assembly. Is it desirable/feasible to replace the early steering box with a later steering box?

Same question for the idler assembly.

The idler doesn’t matter. Switching the box is a much bigger job than you might realize. Several changes are required-probably not worth the hassle.

Thanks JT. I'll see if Mike has a good proper steering box and idler assembly.
