Seems high if you don't know about the car or had someone inspect it. I don't believe there were any shots of the engine compartment for this car.
I thought only women were supposed to fall for shiny paint :?

Not to me. That is one ratty looking engine compartment. Seems over priced but it looks like someone is going to buy it.

Maybe someone had an attenna and noticed it would fit in that empty hole in the fender!
After all, we wouldn't want a good attenna to go to waste

Well, I for one am happy to see it sell for that much! A while back, we had a discussion about values of cars and the value of photography. This auction is a great example of what to do. They hit just about everything! The chrome is shiny, the paint is shiny, they vacuumed the carpet (it always amazes me when I see a decent car with 5lbs of dirt in the floor boards up for auction. 50 cents at the vacuum would net them more money in the auction), they removed non-essential stuff from the photgraphs and they tried to showcase the car. The lighting is good - ho harsh shadows. They got nice angles. They showed off the good points and glossed over the negative points. I thought that the polishing of the valve cover and the new water cap on the block were a nice touch.

Do I think that the car is worth $7800? Well, that is a good question. It is a clean, supposedly rust free low windshield car that does not appear to have been badly molested. The seat upholstery was not installed the best in the world. The door panels are not original, but are nice. The console was cut (OH, THE HUMANITY!!) like a lot of them. The gas cap is missing as are the reflectors. The engine compartment's biggest issue is that it is untidy. The black paint in there kills it for me. I am cheap, so keep that in mind when I put my opinion out there. The car presents well to the casual observer. It needs just a little more detailing and some small parts added. I would say that it should be worth $5000 - $6000 as it sits. I am not blown away by the price, but I am pleased that values are rising!

I always thought those tops would look better without the scoops. I don't think that it is a smoothline (I have seen 2 or 3 in person), but they cleaned it up nice. I just don't get the reverse six pack scoops.

Did anyone notice the winning bidder's id? Wills Loco! (willsloco) More proof you have to be nuts to buy a Roadster!!

Buddy McCarthy has one to match his 67 1600. They do give the car a different look!

I wonder if you could make the scoops in to operational vents...

Seems strange?????? that the above mentioned roadster was bid up and sold at $7800,
when a 68 2000 in "buy me" red paint, recently closed out on eBay
and could NOT bring the minimum $4500 opening bid ?
Item number: 4599527642
Roadster looked to be very honestly presented by a knowledgeable enthusiast ? Was the $7800 roadster a one time occurance ?
