Clutch slave cyl
At the connection point of hose to slave cyl
I have a fluid leak. Now I installed a copper washer/gasket but it still leaks. Is there a different washer/gasket material that I don’t know about?
But the way brand new to 311s.org
Restoring 1966 about 75% complete

Re: Clutch slave cyl
Welcome to the best web resource for the Fairlady Roadster
Either a copper or aluminium washer should work as a crush washer.
Is the leak from the connection or further back on the flexible hose crimp?
You may need a replacement flex hose.

Nissanman, just trying to help.

Re: Clutch slave cyl
If you are certain of the leak point at the crush washer, you can try loosening and tightening it again.

Re: Clutch slave cyl
You shouldn’t need it, but if nothing else works and it’s not the hose itself then you could try some Teflon tape on the threads.

Leak is definitely at the crush washer.spl310 wrote: Wed Mar 31, 2021 9:25 pm If you are certain of the leak point at the crush washer, you can try loosening and tightening it again.
I’ll give that a try!

Never had to do that before but it’s worth a shot!

Re: Clutch slave cyl
The topic of the copper crush washer has been discussed before, but EVERY time you use one, whether new or used, you should temper it to restore its malleability. All you have to do is heat it to red hot (it takes about 10 seconds with a micro torch) and then dunk it in water. Doing this to steel makes it hard and more brittle. Doing it to copper has the opposite effect.
