Wheel viability check

I ordered one of these Scott Drake wheels to see how it lined up.

15x6 with 3.75 backspace.
When I put a straight edge across the face of the wheel, it tucks just under inside of the fender at the top. As you can see in the other pic, there is quite a bit of room on the back side of the wheel to the spring. I think it is going to rub on the fender.

I don't want the wheels to stick out past the sidewall (wheel wider than the tire) so I don't think they will tuck. So, unless I am missing something, these won't work...

Trying real hard here...but OMG are those Rostyle wheels from an MGB????

Back to your concerns...15x6 with 3.75" backspacing is about +6 offset.
On a 6" wide wheel you need to be at 4-4.25" backspace or between +12 to +19 offset.

+15 is ideal.

Early cars like yours have even narrower flares so above may not apply.

Things to do/try:
-take some cardboard and trace out a 195/50/15 tire, you can google overall diameter. Stick this on your wheel, slightly proud or flush with wheel lip. This might give you a better idea of outer fender lip clearance with this "imaginary" tire.

-You can roll/trim fender lip. This will give you 10-15mm clearance.

this is a 14x6 ET15 on a early 67 (same fenders as 66)
front stick out a bit from the fenders and in the rear as with most of these cars the body is not perfectly centered so I have about 1/4 inch of play (6mm) on one side an double that on the other side . that's with 195/60/14s which are smaller than stock
I would do as Alvin say and mock up the tire you could also try a 185/55/15 but I'm assuming you want as much tire as you can with the swap so rolling fenders is probably the safest bet

Wow, the golden rim added an accent to this classic vehicle. It looks nice, but I'll stick to my two-tone KMC wheels.
