69 u20 head value

What is the value of a u20 cylinder head from a 69? Another member who moved close to me recently had a major malfunction and warped head. The head has been previously machined and is basically junk. I have a spare parts car and the head was removed years ago and then there was a fire in the garage and the mechanic pushed the car outside to save it. The head is off since 2002, since I have another u-20 parts car that is still fully assembled and the motor on the one with the head off is probably rusted solid I would sell him this head because he's been finding outrageous prices online. One I don't want to short myself terribly and I don't want him to get ripped off because it would be nice to have another Roadster driver in Connecticut near me to zoom around with. What is a fair value? I know there are probably a lot of considerations. I'm going to assume that it has not been machined because they told me that it was the first time this car had been opened up. Any input would be appreciated thank you.

I would take it to a machine shop to check it over prior to making any value assessment. If it can't be used, it's of course of little value. If it is in good shape and needs no attention it has more value. Knowing the condition allows you to better price.

Well we're going to be presenting it to his shop wherever his car is right now. if everything goes well what should I charge for it?

I would guess that a good rebuildable (not warped, two-piece rockers, good cam, and no significant corrosion) is worth $500-800. Rebuilding it might run an additional $500-800. I think a rebuilt, ready- to- run head with good thickness would run at least $1500. Of course it all depends on the market.

Like Shannon said it depends on how much or little work has to be done on the head. So maybe after the head has been evaluated set a price that is agreeable for both of you.

I'm selling it to him for $400 with the understanding that if it doesn't work I'll take it back. I want another roadster driver within 15 minutes of me to ride around with.
