Late tank also had the fuel return, early did not, late also has a large notch for “traction” bar if I recall.

The late tank makes sense due to the costs involved for such a limited run product. The late tank will work for both applications by just capping off the return nipple. Would it be possible to make an adapter to go from the lock ring type to the bolt in? That would allow all the existing late models to be able to use the WV sender as well. Might be a good product for one of our more innovative vendors.

Or, just have two sender locations.

A built in return would be a good idea, even an extra, for any future EFI conversion folks.

MOPAR PRO updated Facebook with their prototype in from Italy. No surprise they went with the later tank as that was what there sample was. So us older model owners with the five bolt Fuel Sender tanks will have to buy a new $200 Fuel sender to use with it unless there it a way to cut off the locking tabs and Mickey Mouse a five bolt FS on there? Hopefully with practice the manufacturer will clean up that fuel neck weld.

While the later tank certainly makes sense, an early style sender would have been an improvement as there are units that work that are more inexpensive than the OEM unit.

Yep and I conveyed that to Mike at MOPAR, but ultimately the logistics of getting his hands on an older tank and getting it to Italy was a Bridge too far. He could have made a hybrid model with the return line but with the five bolt FS were anyone could drop in a $25 VW Bug FS

Can you remove the tabs and drill 5 holes? If so then you could align the VW sender like the roadster one.

I posed that question in the comment with the photo. Funny thing is I was thinking if anyone could figure it out it would be Curtis, you have your marching orders :P

Actually I'm thinking Mike might be open to getting his hands on a trashed early tank and seeing if there could be a work around that could be domestically implemented once he receives his production shipments from Italy. Are there captive nuts on the inside of the tank that the bolts thread into?

Well I don't think I've ever seen a late tank off the car. I'll see who has one.
