Yes! As co-driver/navigator in a 1995 928 GTS.
Highly recommend it.

Is there a class for a modified roadster?
Like an engine-swapped roadster.

I think the catagories are only based on target speed and ,from what I read, rookies are put in the touring class (target speed 95mph and max 124mph). There's minimum speed (80 I think except in corners) The tech requires a competition roll bar for open car. My factory roll bars don't meet the requirements so I can't play.

Sounds like fun.

Interesting note: if you get a speeding ticket on highway 418 or 390 in the 90 days proceeding the event, you are disqualified. This is part of the agreement with the Nevada Dept of Transportation to allow the race on a public highway.

The rules/classes are posted on the site. Basically, you can run whatever car/modification you want as long as you follow the safety requirements.
IMHO, a Datsun Roadster prepped for the street would be relatively unsafe. This is many, many miles at sustained speeds above 100mph with curves, elevation changes etc. It's not a straightaway.

If you want top speed in your roadster, go to the salt flat or a Shift Sector event.

Yeah, I've been to the Bonneville salt flats as crew member back in the '90s and there is no way I would take a roadster out there. The salt gets forced into the innermost parts of the body and chassis; it requires hours of wash-down time at the car wash to *try* to remove it all.
A roadster, with its notorious lack of corrosion protection, is likely to meet it's fatal last voyage/demise with a trip to the salt flats as a competitor.
But I'd love to see a roadster compete in the Silver State Challenge.
